Chart Thai Pattana urges fact-finding panel to restore its image

BANGKOK, 11 June 2010 (NNT) – The coalition Chart Thai Pattana Party has urged the independent fact-finding panel on political violence chaired by former Attorney-General, Kanit Na Nakorn, to clear its negative image and gain acceptance from all sides.

Chart Thai Pattana Spokesperson, Watchara Kannikar, admitted that the recent appointment of Mr Kanit as the panel’s chairperson was deemed as non-transparent and hence not accepted by many sectors.

Mr Watchara said the first mission of the independent fact-finding panel on the political rally of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) and related violent incidents was to clear the alleged partial image, in order to boost its credibility.

Moreover, the spokesperson suggested the panel work sincerely and carefully, saying that they must treat every side fairly in order to prevent further political conflicts within the society. Nevertheless, he noted that every side should give good collaboration to the investigative panel as well.

Mr Watchara also said that the proportion of panel members yet to be appointed was also a matter of wait and see.
