Coalition partners not to isolate Democrat

BANGKOK, 18 May 2010 (NNT) – The coalition parties would not leave or defect from the ruling Democrat Party, Tourism and Sports Minister and coalition Chart Thai Pattana Party leader Chumpol Silapa-archa said.

Before participating in a weekly cabinet meeting at the 11th Infantry Regiment on Tuesday, Mr Chumpol said the coalition partners would stay beside and support the government no matter how Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva would decide in dealing with the current political turmoil within the society.

Mr Chumpol also noted that the ongoing political tension would have been relieved if Major General MR Kukrit Pramoj, the 13th prime minister of Thailand, were still alive.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister and core member of coalition Bhumjaithai Party, Sopon Zarum, stated that he sympathized with every side, and hoped that the domestic unrest would be solved very soon.

Mr Sopon said all coalition parties were ready to be responsible for any result of the situation.
