BANGKOK, 5 May 2010 (NNT) — The Commerce Ministry led by Minister Pornthiva Nakasai has left for the United States to hold a road show to reinforce the confidence of potential investors with prospects of investing in Thailand.
Ms Pornthiva left Thailand yesterday using the opportunity to reinforce relationships between the public sector and citizens of the United States. Ms Pornthiva has also clarified matters regarding the current political situation in Thailand, citing the government’s measures for a resolution leading to peace and unity. Other matters include informing potential investors of the solutions implemented for the previous Map Tha Phut industrial deadlock to increase investing confidence and the current projects of ASEAN, along with its ministers.
Ms Pornthiva is scheduled to stay in the USA from 4-6 May 2010.
Meanwhile the commerce minister has asked producers and business operators to extend the price-fixing policy of goods to three months, in order to relieve the expense burden of the public especially on important consumer products. The original deadline for such price fixtures was set to end on 30 April 2010, while the policy has been effective since 31 March 2010.
Regarding the drop in crop prices, the commerce minister has expedited a solution, introducing a new reference price as well as increasing purchasing points and the price of rice operations to 75 THB per ton of rice to rice mills.
