Commerce Ministry to push creative economy projects

BANGKOK, 25 April 2010 (NNT) – The Commerce Ministry has scheduled to push forward several projects under the government’s Creative Economy campaign from next month onward with the aim of pushing Thai brands and packaging towards an international standard.

Deputy Commerce Minister, Alongkorn Ponlaboot cited that the government had allocated a budget of one billion THB for projects under the Creative Economy initiated by the government to stimulate the Thai economy. Each province and community will be encouraged to develop their brands and packaging to add more value to their products.

After next month, 10 provinces will be selected as model cities. Thailand aims to be the center of creative economy in the region while such projects will help increase employment and income. Mr Alongkorn added that the creative idea on production and innovation would be added into the curriculum with other related promotion among youth. Other countries and related organizations will also be invited to join the World Creative Economy Forum or WCEF which will be held this November.
