Commerce Ministry urges exporters to use Australia, NZ, ASEAN trade pact

BANGKOK, March 6 (TNA) — Thailand’s Commerce Ministry has urged exporters to better understand more on benefits offered under the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) agreement which will take effect March 12, a senior ministry official said.

Foreign Trade Department director-general Vichak Visetnoi said the agency will hold a seminar in Khon Kaen Thursday to spotlight trade opportunities between ASEAN (including Thailand), Australia, and New Zealand.

The seminar is designed to provide better understanding about arrangements to improve Thai exports to the two countries.

Under the AANZFTA agreement, Australia and New Zealand will open their markets more widely to leather, textiles, vehicles and parts from ASEAN members.

Thailand along with Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia,  Laos,  Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam are ASEAN members. (TNA)
