BANGKOK, 23 May 2010 (NNT) – The government’s Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) is planning to extend the curfew for another two days until 24 May 2010 in a bid to facilitate the operation of security officers to restore the situation in the country back to normalcy, according to CRES and Army Spokesperson, Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd.
Speaking at the press conference on Sunday morning, Colonel Sansern announced that the CRES is preparing to extend the curfew for another two days in Bangkok and other parts of the country, effective between 23.00 and 4.00 hrs during 23-24 May 2010. Residents are prohibited from being outside their households during the curfew.
Those provinces covered by curfew comprise of Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samutprakan, Pathumthani, Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, Chonburi, Chiangmai, Chiangrai, Lampang, Nakhon Sawan, Nan, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Nongbua Lumpoo, Maha Sarakham, Roi-Et, Sakon Nakhon, Kalasin, and Mukdaharn.
The curfew has been imposed in the capital city of Bangkok and 22 other provinces since 19 May due to post-riots that erupted in several areas after the disbandment of anti-government protests.
