Democrat Party: UDD ought to postpone their rally in compliance with the King´s speech

BANGKOK, 7 December 2009 (NNT) – Democrat Party Spokesperson, MD Buranaj Smutharaks called on the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) to postpone their rally on 10 December 2009 in compliance with His Majesty the King’s royal speech.

In regards to the UDD rally, scheduled on 10 December on the occasion of the Constitution Day at the Democracy Monument, the spokesperson stated that the democrat party would request the UDD group to adhere to the principles in HM the King’s royal speech by postponing its peaceful rally on the scheduled time and site in celebration of the New Year Festival, a happy and joyous time for all Thais.

MD Buranaj added that the military officers would not create chaos which could harm the national security and would definitely not belong to one’s side, but the nation. He also asked the government to assign the related units to oversee the overall situation for upholding peace and maintaining security for Thais during this happy time.

The UDD’s rally will urge the government to go back to using the 1997 Constitution.
