Democrat Spokesperson Mr. Chawanont Intarakomalasut is asking Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to keep government supporters under control as they are still threatening the media and the Opposition.
The Spokesperson cited the assault on a former student last week as a form of threat. Their behaviors have also extended to media and the Opposition merely because they don’t stand on the same side as the government.
Mr. Chawanont added that despite this event, a person who had a close tie to the supporter denied responsibility by saying there was a third party involved. He further stated that Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, who is no longer the Prime Minister, had to be extra vigilant for violence when traveling upcountry.
Mr. Chuan Leekphai has recently also received a threat while leaving the Parliament at night from the government supporters. He asked Ms Yingluck to stop all these threats for their safety.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson expressed his disagreement with the Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Minister for his appointment to oversee the media as Pheu Thai had been allegedly involved with buying supports from the media before. Mr. Chawanont urged the government not to intervene in the work of the media and that the media should not present distorted information to the public.
