BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) – Police in Bangkok have arrested a fourth person suspected of being connected with spreading a rumour regarding the health of the Thai monarch, a rumour which sent the Thai stock market tumbling last month.
Thassaporn Rattawongsa, a doctor at Thon Buri Hospital, was arrested by the Economic and Cyber Crime Police Division (ECD), at her room in a condominium in Phahonyothin Soi 8 in Bangkok.
Police said they have evidence confirming that she had posted the information on a politically-oriented website and caused the plunge of stock market during October 13-15.
She admitted posting the information on the website .
Dr Thassaporn was charged with violating Section 14 of the Computer Offences Act for posting inaccurate information which threatens national security
Police seized her notebook computer and some documents as evidence.
Dr Thassaporn is the fourth person arrested on the same charge.
Police said, at the moment, no connection was found between Dr Thassaporn and three other suspects arrested earlier in spreading false information about HM the King’s health.
The suspects who were earlier arrested were Theeranun Wiphuchanun, a former executive of a securities company, Bangkok-based stockbroker at KT Zmico Securities Katha Pajariyapong, and Somjate Itthiworakun from Chon Buri. (TNA)
