BANGKOK, 26 September 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations (DTN), Noppadol Sarawasee, believes the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint will allow companies within the ASEAN to hold shares in Thai service businesses at over 50% within 2010.
Mr Noppadol declared that the AEC Blueprint that would come into effect in the year 2015 would strengthen the ASEAN’s competitiveness. Thailand and other ASEAN’s countries must open their services business market in order to allow ASEAN investors to hold shares at 51% or more and will continually increase to 70% within the year 2013-2015. The DTN would hastily arrange a seminar to provide information to Thai entrepreneurs in order to support and gain the most benefit from the agreement.
In regards to the AEC Blueprint, healthy tourism, air transportation, telecommunication, and computer services will come into effect in 2010, while logistics, communication, construction, and education services will be liberalized within 2013-2015.
