BANGKOK, 14 May 2010 (NNT) – The Energy Minitry instructed oil and natural gas transportation to avoid 10 districts of Bangkok for safety, while the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) pleads protestors not to damage public facilities.
Deputy Director-General of the Department of Energy Business (DOEB), Ong-art Promjanyakul stated that the DOEB had exercised caution among all oil traders including oil depot, LPG depot and NGV depot at more than 20 sites, to avoid CRES’s prohibited areas.
According to the caution, 10 districts of Bangkok and some other areas at risk have been defined and that oil and gas transportation must avoid. Meanwhile, gas stations at prohibited areas have been closed. Oil and gas traders are requested to report to DOEB each time in dispatching transportation to serve petrol stations.
EGAT Governor cited that security measures had been enhanced to guard power generating plants and electricity wires particularly in the risk areas proclaimed by the CRES. He asked protestors not to take public facilities involved as their political means to cause troubles to the mass.
