BANGKOK, 23 May 2010 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva reaffirmed the implementation of his proposed 5-key point roadmap to political and national reconciliation after the situation is restored back to normal.
Speaking on his weekly program on Sunday, “Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit”, the Prime Minister reassured that the government would rebuild the nation after recent political unrest by upholding the reconciliation plan. He has also urged all parties to help rebuild the nation and open minds in accepting various sources of information.
PM Abhisit said the independent body has been approached to take charge of investigating all politically-related cases. He insisted that all state officials performed their duties in accordance with the legal framework and internationally-accepted principles.
The Asean Communities, the European Union (EU) and the United States recently issued statements supporting the reconciliation roadmap, demanding all Thai authorities and anti-government group to refrain from the use of force and violent means, said the PM, adding that the government was preparing to seek understanding with foreign countries over the confiscation of heavy weapons during the anti-government protests.
The ongoing investigation was being conducted following the recent arrest of a foreigner who planned to launch arson attacks in the capital, added the PM.
