BANGKOK, 27 November 2009 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Suthep Thaugsuban has indicated necessities of the government to adjust the tax structure, reasoning that this issue directly affects people.
The deputy prime minister stated that the government would not be able to proceed with all policies if the tax structure was not adjusted. The government has planned to provide universal social welfare for all Thai citizens.
Mr Korbsak explained that the government now had high expenditures despite increasing revenue from tax collection. However, he said the government had the obligation to efficiently manage the tax collection system since this issue directly affected people.
Regarding inheritance tax, the deputy prime minister uttered that it depended on how long the current government could operate. He said the finance minister would have direct responsibility on this issue.
