Hong Kong, Apr 20, 2013 – (ACN Newswire) – More than 2,200 exhibitors from 35 counties and regions are taking part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles & Furnishings Fair, which opened today and continue through 23 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
ASEAN Pavilion
The 28th edition of the Hong Kong Houseware Fair, the largest fair of its kind in Asia, is hosting more than 2,000 exhibitors from all over the world, including newcomer Slovenia. The fair features 17 group pavilions, including the ASEAN Select pavilion, with about 80 exhibitors showcasing products from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The Chinese mainland (Shangyu) and Sri Lanka are first-time pavilions at the fair.
Zoning in on the Home
Houseware Fair highlights include the new World of Fine Decor zone, presenting 59 exhibitors. The Hall of Elegance returns, spotlighting 40 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions. Prestigious brands on offer include BWT, Metier Atelier, Multiple Choice by Topchoice, Thomson Pottery and Umbra. Also back are the World of Fine Dining, the Small-Order Zone and the World of Pet Supplies.
Other product zones include Bar Accessories, Furniture, Green Living, Health & Wellness, Home Tech, Kitchenware & Gadgets, Outdoor Living, Paintings & Objects d’Art and Tableware.
Focus on Pet Supplies
Pet Supplies is also spotlighted in product parades, an industry forum (21 April), and a seminar on the pet-care business in emerging markets (22 April). Other information sessions include a designer forum (21 April), a houseware buyer forum spotlighting Asian market opportunities (22 April), and a seminar on boosting the home products business through e-tailing (22 April).
Special events range from ASEAN cooking demonstrations through each of the fair’s first three days (20-22 April), to a houseware product demonstration in the Sri Lanka Pavilion (22 April).
Pavilions from China and India
The fourth Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair welcomes more than 220 exhibitors from five countries and regions, including three group pavilions: the Chinese mainland (Zhejiang), India’s Handloom Export Promotion Council and India’s Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.
Handmade Carpets
The fair’s new Fine Handmade Carpets zone features exquisitely crafted carpets from India and Iran, while the returning Hall of Glamour puts a spotlight on high-quality offerings from top Indian and Hong Kong designers: Ajaz Nanda Design (India); Chung Kong Kai Lok (Hong Kong); Craftex India; J-tex (Hong Kong); Kerala Balers Private Ltd (India); Livington (Hong Kong); Sarla Handicrafts P Ltd (India); Shiv Shakti Exports (India); and Small World (Hong Kong).
Bedroom, Bathroom and Kitchen
Other product zones at the fair include Baby & Bedroom Textiles, Bathroom & Kitchen Textiles, Carpet & Floor Coverings, Upholstery & Furnishing Products, and Window Fashion & Accessories.
A home textiles buyer forum (21 April) and a handmade carpet forum (22 April) are among the fair’s industry trend sessions.
Buying Missions
The two fairs have attracted 125 buying missions from 48 countries and regions, consisting of more than 6,300 buyers representing more than 4,400 companies.
