BANGKOK, 19 June 2010 (NNT) – Former Attorney General Kanit Na Nakorn is scheduled to meet representatives from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on 29 June 2010 in order to clarify transparency in probing recent political violence.
Democrat Party Spokesperson Buranat Samutarak disclosed the party’s support to public suggestions toward the Prime Minister’s five-point national Reconciliation Roadmap. The assemblies being adopted to work with the public to get rid of seven main problems in Thailand by the use of peace, unity, ratification, communication and cooperation is aimed to start within 2010, while visible results should be generated within three years.
UNDP Administrator, Helen Clark, earlier commented that political stalemate in Thailand would impede the country from progressing and eradicating poverty unlike Vietnam. She also indicated that political stability in Thailand was caused by the 19 September coup d’état.
In response to the UNDP’s concern, MD Buranat said the investigative committee led by Mr Kanit will meet the UNDP representatives on 29 June 2010 to expalin that the process is open for observation by the international bodies as long as they do not intervene. The government’s effort would certainly be carried out based on international standard, while suggestions from all sectors are encouraged despite differences of opinions.
