BANGKOK, 7 January 2010 (NNT) – The state-owned Krung Thai Bank (KTB) has received the “Bank of the Year in Thailand 2009” award from The Banker magazine of The Financial Times.
KTB Senior Director for Marketing Communications and Public Relations, Panya Phrammanee, stated that KTB was the only bank in Thailand to receive the reward from The Banker due to its impressive growth in net profit and loan expansion despite the ongoing global economic crisis throughout 2009.
According to Mr Panya, KTB was given this award for its role in supporting economic stimulus projects initiated by the current government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. The bank has continuously provided financial assistance for Small and Medium Enterprises, especially those in the country’s infrastructure sector.
The Financial Times, in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment, launched the 10th Banker Awards 2009 to award banks with outstanding operations and management worldwide. There are 144 banks receiving the award this year.
