BANGKOK, 17 February 2010 (NNT) – A recent survey reveals that the mobile phone business has dominated Thailand’s software and information technology market in 2009 with a share value of 360 billion THB.
Acting Director of the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Mr Wuttipong Pongsuwan stated that the total value of ICT service and exports in 2009 was around 555 billion THB, an increase of 6% from the previous year. Of the total market value, phone and internet service took the largest portion worth 36 billion THB, followed by the computer sector.
According to the study, the rapid and continuous growth of the Thai communication market was a result of the smart-phone craze that ruled the Thai society in the past year. Hi-tech gadgets like I-Phone or Blackberry are equipped with handy functions such as hi-speed internet connection support or rapid data transfer that can well satisfy people’s need.
Moreover, the 3G wireless technology, which has been recently commenced, also helps promote the use of new communication means, generating more turnover in the ICT market.
