BANGKOK, 23 June 2009 (NNT) – The Ministry of Public Health deemed the A (H1N1) virus preventive campaign successful, especially the preventive handbook distribution to people, and asserted that additional handbooks will be handed out nationwide.
Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nop-amornbodi stated that the ministry was satisfied with the people’s feedback to its measures against the spread of the influenza A (H1N1) and believed that the outbreak situation will be effectively kept under control. However, he stated that the ministry was facing shortages of antiviral hand gels and had thus instructed the Government Pharmaceutical Organization to increase its production.
Mr Manit informed that recently the ministry distributed 10,000 virus preventive handbooks, 3,000 tubes of hand-sanitizing gel and 10,000 sanitary masks to people at New Mochit Bus Terminal in order to safeguard them from the flu. He said all provincial authorities had also been tasked to promote self-protection among local residents using transport services. After positive responses were received, the deputy minister further assured that additional virus preventive handbooks will be distributed in schools, factories and temples across the country.
