BANGKOK, 21 February 2010 (NNT) – The majority of Thai people are monitoring the news about the upcoming verdict on the 76 billion THB frozen asset case of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, according to a survey by the Assumption University Research Center (ABAC Poll).
73.2% of the respondents are waiting to hear the Supreme Court’s ruling scheduled for 26 February 2010. 85.3% of the respondents were not worried about any political turbulence within the kingdom after the ruling was made while 11.7% were so concerned that they began hoarding food in case of violence.
In addition, almost half of the respondents or about 49.2% believed the domestic political situation after Mr Thaksin’s case was judged would remain messy as usual. Therefore, they called upon all groups to stage their political movement peacefully for the sake of Thai people and the kingdom.
The research institution conducted a survey among respondents residing in the capital city of Bangkok in order to collect their opinions about the possible result after the verdict for Mr Thaksin’ case was drawn by the Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions of the Supreme Court.
