BANGKOK, 18 January 2010 (NNT) – The new governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) vows to maintain reasonable power rates and to look into a possibility of building coal and nuclear power plants in the country.
Upon taking up his new post as the 11th EGAT Governor, Mr Suthat Pattamasiriwat, said he was determined to lead the organization to become the country’s key strategic body and a business leader in this region.
EGAT will proceed with power plant construction projects, particularly nuclear-based, to reduce the dependence on specific fuel and to contribute to global warming resolution.
Mr Suthat promised to take care of the electricity price in order to boost Thailand’s competitiveness and to push for more overseas investment by affiliate companies to boost the nation’s income.
