Nine projects by Commerce Minister to improve DEP´s performance

BANGKOK, 5 December 2009 (NNT) – Nine projects of 2010 being initiated in accordance with the Commerce Minister’s idea are meant to improve the Department of Export Promotion’s performance.

Minister of Commerce, Pornthiva Nakasai, denied the rumor about her manipulation behind the scene over the proposal of the 310 million THB on the nine export stimulus projects in 2010.

As elaborated by Mrs Pornthiva, the nine incentive projects were set up in an effort to overhaul the Department of Export Promotion as well as to promote Thai exports in 2010 to expand by 10-15%. However, the department’s new strategies resulted in rumors being spread by people with ill-intentions.

Mrs Pornthiva claimed that the former 2010 proposal of 995 million THB to be used over 600 projects activities were nothing new compared to the year 2009, with only 665 million THB being used in the operation.
