PHANG NGA, 26 December 2010 (NNT) – Citizens of Phuket and Phang Nga as well as relatives of those who lost their lives in the tsunami six years ago gathered to commemorate the incident which struck the south-western coast of Thailand in 2004, killing thousands.
Merit-making ceremonies were held in dedication to the victims, at Takua Pa district in Phang Nga, Patong beach in Phuket, and several other places.
The people performed merit makings and placed garlands in front of the name tags of those who passed away.
The ceremony in Phang Nga also included the commemoration of Khun Phum Jensen, the only son of Princess Ubol Ratana, who was also the tsunami victim.
