BANGKOK, 21 May 2010 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has thanked all sides for being cooperative with authorities while affirming the commitment of the government to national rehabilitation.
Speaking in a televised address on Friday at 13.50 hrs, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva expressed regret over the losses in recent riots; however, he thanked all sides and the public for understanding the operations of the government to restore normalcy.
Prime Minister Abhisit thanked the military, police, administration, local authorities, the private sector, volunteers, and the Red Cross Society for risking their lives and helping with the mission to solve the crisis.
The prime minister confirmed that the lives of people are the government’s top priority. He said it is now the time to rehabilitate the country from its physical and mental ailments.
The task ahead, Prime Minister Abhisit noted was for authorities to assist people affected by riots. He said the military, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and civil volunteers would work in an integrative manner to restore the Kingdom to its formal self.
As for mid-term measures, the prime minister promised that the government would lift several limitations to return normal lives to the people while all legal cases would be proceeded with fairness and expediency.
For long-term plans, PM Abhisit said the government would move on with its reconciliation roadmap and recover the nations politics, economy, and society with an emphasis on peace.
The prime minister ended that the government would clarify the situation to both people in the country and throughout the world community.
