PM urges MOPH to intensify care for H1N1 patients

BANGKOK, 12 July 2009 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has emphasized the Ministry of Public Health to heighten the treatment of patients infected with the influenza A (H1N1) in order to suppress the fatality rate in the country.

Due to his concern that more Thai citizens would be infected the A (H1N1) virus, Prime Minister Abhisit requested all public event organizers to cooperate in adopting virus preventive measures for the safety of the attendants. He informed that the Public Health Ministry had been assigned to especially monitor the virus’s spread at any event, where a large gathering of people was expected.

The Prime Minister, however, stated that no additional H1N1 preventive measures would yet be issued, but the government would intensively focus on increasing the efficiency of its virus prevention and the treatment of infected patients in order to keep the death toll in Thailand as low as possible.
