Police to conclude PAD’s airport seizure cases within Feb

BANGKOK, 3 February 2010 (NNT) – Inquiry officers responsible for the Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang International Airports seizure cases of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have been assigned to complete briefs of the cases within this month.

Assistant Commissioner-General, Police Lieutenant General Somyot Pumpunmung, in his capacity as the chief of inquiry officers responsible for the cases convened all officers on Tuesday. Officers were then tasked with completing briefs of the cases within February before forwarding to the team of inquiry officers of the National Police Headquarters.

Police Lieutenant General Somyot reported that at present, all witnesses were interrogated while political speeches of the PAD were all decoded. He said the team was only waiting for the CD recording the incidents from Rachathewa Police Station. He confirmed that the cases would be processed fairly since the cases were under the attention of both Thais and foreigners alike.

The assistant commissioner-general however admitted that not one of the 36 culprits in the cases had reported themselves with police to acknowledge their charges. He said only Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya had contacted the police to defer the date to report to police for another 30 days from 30 January 2010.
