BANGKOK, 18 November 2009 (NNT) – PTT Plc and PTTEP Thailand plans to invest in the liquefied natural gas production units in Australia to support Thailand future demand.
Mr Jittapong Kwangsuksatit, chief executive of PTT International, said the company and PTTEP Plc are preparing to invest in the production of Floating Liquefied Natural Gas, stationed in Australia. Having the LNG produced by drill ships is an entire new technology that allows an easy transportation and distribution of the liquid gas. Thailand’s future demand for natural gas could be benefited from such convenience. A vivid speculation of the detail will be further pronounced next year.
Compared to the petroleum gas, natural gas is more difficult to be compressed into liquid form as they are structurally smaller and more volatile. However, the transportation ease of the product is worth the cost of extra energy and safety precaution requirement.
