Satun takes turn to sing the national anthem

SATUN, 15 November 2009 (NNT) – Local residents and authorities in the southern province of Satun will gather at Satun Provincial Hall to sing the national anthem at 18.00 hrs today in accordance with “Thai Unity, Strong Thailand’ scheme, initiated by the Abhisit government.

According to local Governor, Sumeth Chailertwanitkul, Satun will be filled with the sense of unity and sovereignty of all Thais as the national anthem singing would be taking place today at Satun Provincial Hall. Before singing the national anthem, the performance of mariner will be shown by local schools. More than 25,000 people are expected to join this event. After the event the names of village leaders will be posted in every village for tourists who want to get information about the province. This will help promote provincial tourism.

Satun is the 57th province in the live-broadcast project of the national anthem. Tomorrow will be Samut Songkhram’s turn.

The Thai Unity, Strong Thailand scheme was initiated by the Abhisit government which aimed to encourage all Thais to show unity by singing the national anthem together everyday at 18.00 hrs. On 5 December 2009, His Majesty the King’s birthday, the nation will sing the national anthem altogether.

Satun is located in the southern part of Thailand, sharing the border with Malaysia. Most people in this province are Muslim. Tourist attractions include Tarutao National park, Ku Den museum, Ko Lipae and more. Many tourists travel to this province to visit these local attractions.
