Sixty bn turnover expected during 2010 FIFA World Cup

BANGKOK, 3 June 2010 (NNT) – Sixty billion THB is speculated to be in circulation during the 2010 FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa.

According to the Center for Economic and Business Forecasting, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, a total turnover of 59 billion THB or an additional 50.48% is expected to be seen in 2010 when compared to the previous matches in 2006, with up to 37 billion THB turnover in illegal gambling business.

Moreover, 84.2% of Thais viewed that the current economy outlook still showed a slow improvement, while the upcoming match would draw more debt burdens and gambling issues.
