Surin believes the Thai-Cambodian border dispute can be solved bilaterally

BANGKOK, 15 October 2009 (NNT) – The ASEAN Secretary General, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan viewed that the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand could be resolved bilaterally.

The border issue between Thailand and Cambodia will not be put as an agenda in the ASEAN summit, according to the ASEAN Secretary General, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan. The border conflict is between the two countries, thus, it can be resolved bilaterally. However, other parties that think this issue would affect the ASEAN’s image, can bring up this topic to exchange their views and suggestions during the upcoming summit.

The ASEAN Secretary General assured that the Thai-Cambodian border issue would not be the only topic to be discussed aggressively at the Summit as all ASEAN members were mature enough to listen and deal with problems respectively.
