ANGKOK, 29 January 2010 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Suthep Thaugsuban has assured strong ties remain among all parties of the coalition government despite differences of opinion on charter revision.
The deputy prime minister emphasized that the prime duty of the government was to solve problems for the nation. He stated that all parties in the government could still operate together although coalition parties had different opinions on the constitutional amendment issue.
Speaking in his capacity as the Democrat secretary-general, Mr Suthep added that he would seek talks with coalition partners to settle the difference, saying that he is only now waiting for the right time.
The deputy prime minister believes that the matter of charter revision will not affect the upcoming censure debate. He reasoned that it would depend on the elucidation of each minister in Parliament.
Mr Suthep added that he would travel to Ramathibodi Hospital to visit former Prime Minister and Democrat Chief Advisor Chuan Leekpai after he was admitted to the hospital due to an infection in his bloodstream.
