TAPA 2016 Showcases Thailand’s Potential as World Auto Parts Hub

The Department of International Trade Promotion, in cooperation with the private sector, is organizing Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories 2016 (TAPA 2016) to display new “green” products and innovations created for the better environment and to showcase Thailand’s potential as the world’s major manufacturing and export base of auto parts and accessories.

Mrs. Malee Choklumlerd, Director General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce revealed that “The Department of International Trade Promotion has collaborated with Thai Auto Parts Manufacturers Association, Thai Auto Parts Aftermarket Association, Worachak Automotive Synergy Association and Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association to organize Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories 2016 or TAPA 2016, a truly international event in the auto parts industry. This event will shine a spotlight on Thailand as a major sourcing hub of auto parts and accessories in ASEAN and will be an international trade arena to present new products and innovations in the auto parts and accessories industry. It encourages Thailand’s industry to develop its competitiveness to prepare for the ASEAN Economic Community and use it as a platform to expand trade opportunities within the ASEAN countries now that the region becomes a large and increasingly important market in the world.”

“It is already known that Thailand is ASEAN’s leader in the automotive industry and we have expertise and high standards of production in the auto parts and accessories industry. These industries play a crucial role in the country’s economy with a total export value of $31,000 million in 2015. The automobile export value is $19,200 million with major export markets being Australia, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia while the export value of auto parts and accessories is $13,000 million and major export markets are Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.”
According to the statistics, the automotive industry is one of the key earners for the country and the government has given full support for the private sector to propel Thailand to become the leader and hub of automobile production in ASEAN and one of the top ten automobile producers in the world.

TAPA 2016 will showcase the potential and readiness of Thailand as a manufacturing and export base of auto parts and accessories. Being organized under the theme “World Auto Parts Sourcing Hub, The Green Innovation High Quality Product for Sustainable Growth”, the event will present new environment friendly products and innovations which can reduce pollution, save energy and reduce global warming.

TAPA 2016 features 576 exhibitors who are leading manufacturers, exporters, distributors, sub – contractors, manufacturer’s OEMs/REMs from Thailand and overseas countries in 1,031 booths. The products and services on display include auto parts and components (OEM/REM), auto accessories, petroleum/lubricants/maintenance products, tools/dies and machines, vehicles, repair, maintenance and services, IT and management.

The event will attract more than 10,000 visitors from ASEAN, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Africa, EU, China, India, the Middle East, South America, Russia, etc. It is expected that the event will generate approximately ฿2,100 million of trade value from order within one year.

Exciting activities at TAPA 2016 include exhibitions and Product Showcase in the theme of “The Green Innovation for Sustainable Growth” from leading automobile and parts manufacturers which present the latest technologies in automobile and parts. There are also seminars in such interesting topics as future export trends, obstacles in export, important trade measures, etc.

TAPA 2016 is organized during 7-10 April 2016, from 10.00 – 18.00 hrs. at Hall 101 – 104, BITEC, Bangkok – 7-9 April 2016 are trade days and 10 April 2016 is a public day.
