BANGKOK, 21 July 2009 (NNT) – The Thai Chamber of Commerce forecasted that Thailand’s export volume for the year 2009 would contract beyond 10% due to several risk factors while expecting signs of recovery after the third quarter.
President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Dusit Nonthanakorn stated that Thailand’s export situation would likely bounce back in the third quarter after higher foreign purchasing orders were reported in June. Nonetheless, he was confident that the export growth for the entire year would certainly shrink more than 10%, resulting from the ongoing global economic crisis and the A (H1N1) outbreak.
Mr Dusit added that provincial chambers of commerce throughout the country had been informed of the preventative measures against the A (H1N1) flu in an effort to minimize its impacts on the overall national economy.
