Thai banks back construction projects aboard

BANGKOK, 19 January 2010 (NNT) – President of the Thai Trade Representative (TTR), Kiat Sitthiamorn said the TTR has co-operated with Krungthai Bank PLC, Export-Import Bank of thailand and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand to support private sector for construction projects in foreign countries.

A group of Thai contractors and consultants overseas will help seek investment or co-investment opportunities for the Thai private sector especially in six targeted countries including India, Vietnam, Brunei, Bahrain, Middle East and Africa. These markets also offer opportunities in construction of facilities and other basic infrastructure.

Mr Kiat expressed his confidence that the operation will bring over a hundred billion THB to the country as there is a high possibility that a Thai company will be chosen for a 50 billion THB housing development project in Bahrain.
