BANGKOK, Dec 27 (TNA) — A total of 1,193 investment projects with a combined investment of Bt514.6 billion with the potential to generate employment for 129,453 workers sought promotional privileges from Thailand’s Board of Investment (BoI) from January 1 through December 20, Secretary-General Atchaka Sibunruang said.
Mrs. Atchaka said the combined investment exceeded by 28.65 per cent the government target of Bt400 billion set at the beginning of this year.
She said investors seeking privileges from the BoI were seen most in November and December when investment stimulus measures were about to expire. A total of 264 projects with combined investment of Bt181.2 billion applied to the BoI between November 1 and December 21.
Investors this year were keen to invest most in services and the public utility sectors as combined investments stood at Bt303.7 billion followed by electronics and electrical appliances industry with total investment of Bt51.5 billion, machinery and transportation Bt49.4 billion, and agro-industry at Bt43.5 billion, Mrs. Atchaka added.
